About AILET Counselling 2024 – Overview

The All India Law Entrance Test (AILET) is a national level entrance exam conducted by the National Law University (NLU), Delhi for admission to its undergraduate (BA LLB) and postgraduate (LLM/PhD) law programs. AILET is one of the most popular law entrance exams in India, and it is conducted annually in the month of May.

The exam is conducted in offline mode (pen-and-paper based) and consists of 150 multiple-choice questions covering various topics such as English, General Knowledge, Legal Aptitude, Reasoning, and Elementary Mathematics. The exam duration is 90 minutes, and there is no negative marking for wrong answers.

AILET 2024 Counselling Eligibility

The eligibility criteria for the All India Law Entrance Test (AILET) vary depending on the program for which a candidate is applying. Here are the eligibility criteria for the different programs offered through AILET:

For BA LLB Program:

  • Candidates must have passed the 10+2 or equivalent examination from a recognized board with a minimum of 50% marks (45% for SC/ST/PwD candidates).

For LLM Program:

  • Candidates who are appearing for the final year of the LLB degree examination in the year of the AILET are also eligible to apply.
  • There is no age limit for the LLM program.

For PhD Program:

  • Candidates must have completed an LLM degree from a recognized university with a minimum of 55% marks (50% for SC/ST/PwD candidates).
  • Candidates who are appearing for the final year of the LLM degree examination in the year of the AILET are also eligible to apply.
  • There is no age limit for the PhD program.

AILET 2024 Counselling Process

The counseling process for AILET involves the following steps:

  1. Publication of Merit List: NLU Delhi will publish the merit list for the BA LLB program based on the AILET scores. Candidates who meet the cutoff criteria and are included in the merit list are eligible to participate in the counseling process.
  2. Payment of Counseling Fee: Candidates have to pay the counseling fee online through the official website to participate in the counseling process. The counseling fee amount may vary depending on the program for which the candidate is seeking admission.
