Scholarship for CA Students: Check out the details about the ICAI Scholarship for CA Students 2024 (Merit & Need-based Scholarships). ICAI invites applications for the award of Scholarships to the selected candidates to be paid every year. The eligible students are required to apply in the prescribed Scholarship Application Form.

The Board of Studies (BOS), Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) awards various Scholarships to students, namely, Merit, Merit-cum-Need based and Need-based and Weaker Sections twice a year i.e. in the month of April and October. You may find the CA Scholarship related announcements in the Student’s Journal “The Chartered Accountant Student” calling applications for awarding the scholarships.

CA Scholarship for CA Inter / Final Students

There are Four types of scholarships available for CA Students at ICAI.

  • NEED BASED FOR ECONOMICALLY WEAKER INTERMEDIATE STUDENTS
  • NEED BASED FOR ECONOMICALLY WEAKER FINAL STUDENTS
  • MERIT-CUM-NEED BASED SCHOLARSHIP
  • MERIT SCHOLARSHIP

NEED BASED FOR ECONOMICALLY WEAKER INTERMEDIATE STUDENTS

Scholarship Amount

 

Rs. 1500/- per month

 

Eligibility

 

Students who are registered for Intermediate Course either through Foundation Route or through Direct Entry Route.

 

Income of Parents should not be more than Rs. 3,00.000/- per annum.

 

Period of Scholarship

9 months commencing from the following month of registration for Intermediate Course.

 

Additional 3 months if the Student has completed Orientation Course and IT within first 9 months of registration for Intermediate Course.

 

Additional 3 months if the Student has passed any one Group in Intermediate Examination within 12 months of registration for Intermediate Course.

 

(Note: Students who passes both Groups of Intermediate can apply for Scholarship as Final registered students)

NEED BASED FOR ECONOMICALLY WEAKER FINAL STUDENTS

Scholarship Amount

Rs. 1500/- per month

Eligibility

Students who are registered for Final Course.

Income of Parents should not be more than Rs. 3,00,000/- per annum.

Period of Scholarship

30 Months or remaining period of Articleship, whichever is less.

MERIT-CUM-NEED BASED SCHOLARSHIP

Scholarship Amount

Rs. 2000/- per month

Eligibility

Rank holders of Intermediate

Examinations other than those covered

under Ment Scholarship.

Student must register for Final Course

before making application

Income of Parents should not be more

than Rs. 3,00.000/- per annum.

Period of Scholarship

30 Months or remaining period of Articleship, whichever is less.

MERIT SCHOLARSHIP

Scholarship Amount

Rs. 2500/- per month

Eligibility

Rank holders of Intermediate

Examinations, whose names appear at

SI. No. 1 to 10 and in case the rank at

SI. No. 10 continues to further ranks i.e.

to SI. No. 11 or to SI. No. 12 or soon,

then all such Rank holders.

Student must register for Final Course

before making application

Period of Scholarship

30 Months or remaining period of Articleship, whichever is less.

Eligible Criteria for CA Scholarship

If you wish to avail of the scholarship, then you have to fulfill the terms for the award of Scholarships. Applicants shall be the registered students of Intermediate (IPC) or Final Course of ICAI.

Income certificate / Category certificate is important to avail the scholarship. Income Certificate to be submitted on the letterhead of the Principal by the Student undergoing Article ship or on the letterhead of any member of ICAI by the Student not undergoing Article ship.

Duly completed and signed Application Forms in the prescribed formats should reach the Director, Board of Studies, The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, ICAI Bhawan, A-29, Sector-62, NOIDA-201309 before the last date i.e 31st March for April term and 30th Sept for October term as per the announcement hosted at the ICAI Website.

Note: The payment of scholarship is liable to be discontinued in each category in case the recipient does not pass the Intermediate (IPC)/Final Examination in the first two eligible chances.

Merit CA Scholarship for CA Students

Merit Scholarships awarded by CA Institute to the Meritorious Students i.e. CA IPCC Rank Holders/ Toppers as a token of appreciation. All those students whose names are appearing at Sl. No. 1-10 of Merit lists of Intermediate (IPC) of May 2017 Exam, in case the Rank at Sl. No. 10 continues to Sl. No. 11 or 12 or so on, then all such rank holders shall be granted Rs. 2000/- p.m.

Rank holders of Intermediate (IPC) registered for Final Course will get Scholarship for a maximum period of 30 months/ remaining periods of their Article ship whichever, is less. That means, the Merit Scholarship shall be awarded to only those students who are not yet completed their Article ship training.

Scholarship for CA Students – Merit Based

Rank holders (other than covered under Merit category) of Intermediate (IPC) Nov 2016 Exam whose parents/guardians total annual income does not exceed Rs.1,50,000/- are eligible for this scholarship. The students who would be selected for award of scholarship under this category will be granted Rs. 1500 p.m. for a maximum period of 30 months/ remaining periods of article ship whichever is less on being registered for Final Course. A total of 30 scholarships is awarded every year under this category.

Need-Based and Weaker Sections CA Scholarship

Scholarship for CA Students: Students of Intermediate and Final Course are eligible to apply for the award of Need-based Scholarships provided their parents’ annual income is not more than Rs 1,00,000/- per annum. The students who would be selected for award of the scholarship will be granted Rs 1250/- p.m. for 18 months to Intermediate (IPC) students and for a maximum period of 30 months/ remaining periods of articleship whichever is less to Final students.

Total 500 scholarships (200 for CA Inter and 300 for CA Final Course Students) are awarded every year under this category. Two scholarships are reserved every year for physically handicapped students. Note that an additional amount of Rs 100/- p.m. will be paid for SC/ST/OBC category students on submission of a certificate/ documentary proof duly attested by a member of the Institute.

ICAI DOCTORAL SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME

CA Scholarship Eligibility Conditions

  • Membership of ICAI
  • At least 75% in 10th and 12th standard
  • Age should be less than 40 years on the date of application.
  • Candidate shall be Full Time Student at the University/College/ Institution while pursuing Ph.D. for their attendance and Classes.
  • Candidates shall not avail any other scholarship for the same.

Only the applicants who have applied for Ph.D. after the introduction of ICAI Doctoral Scholarship Scheme 2020 (May 7, 2020) are encouraged to apply for the scheme.

Application shall be forwarded by supervisor of the candidate for Ph.D. or any other competent signing authority of the University/College/Institution.

Candidates are advised to apply only if they are pursuing Ph.D. in the relevant and contemporary topic considering the current economic scenario matching with ICAI mandate, intent to add value to the society, scalable and having global relevance.

    stamped by Supervisor of the candidate for Ph.D. or any other competent signing

Procedure for the Award of Scholarship

Applications are initially scrutinized by the Research Committee Secretariat.

Thereafter, Shortlisting Committee will short-list region wise meritorious proposals from the
eligible applications.

Such applicants may also be invited for a presentation before Shortlisting Committee.

The recommendations of the Shortlisting Committee will then be placed before the Research
Committee for its final approval.

Amount of Scholarship

  • Rs. 50,000 per month Scholarship to be awarded to 5 scholars annually for the maximum period of 36 months.
  • Contingency grant will be admissible at the rate of Rs. 50,000 per annum.

While selecting the Scholarship for CA Students, the performance of their CA CPT/ Graduation Examinations/ Intermediate (IPC) as the case may be as well as parents’ income is taken into consideration. Physically handicapped students or those who do not have any earning member in their family are given preference.
