Although successive state governments tried to provide a chain of hospitals in the entire length and breadth of the state and also opened several medical, dental, nursing and para-medical colleges, both in the public and private sectors, for providing education in respective fields so that necessary trained personnel is available within the state for hospitals in Uttarakhand, still for various serious and critical cases the patients and their attendants had to run to Delhi and other distant places to get specialized and high level treatment. This caused insurmountable problems and incurring of huge funds in terms of money for them.

UPMT Courses

The Uttarakhand Pre Medical Test (UPMT) was conducted for admission to various medical and dental undergraduate courses in the state of Uttarakhand, India. The courses for which UPMT provided admission included:

1. Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS): This is the undergraduate program for becoming a medical doctor. It typically has a duration of five and a half years, including a one-year internship.
2. Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS): This program trains students to become dentists. It usually has a duration of four years, followed by a one-year internship.

These courses were offered by various government and private medical and dental colleges within Uttarakhand. The UPMT exam evaluated the knowledge, aptitude, and skills of candidates aspiring to pursue these medical and dental programs in the state.

Importance of UPMT Admit Card

• The admit card contains the necessary details relating to the exam and there will be no option to but to carry it on the day of the exam
• No student will be permitted to give the exam in the absence of hall ticket
• The exam will consist of four parts (Physics, Chemistry, Zoology and Botany) bearing 50 questions in each part.
• The designation of the question will be in an objective form so you need to tick the correct answer
• The exam paper will be in two languages- English and Hindi
• The negative marking is not applied to the incorrect response.
• The students will need to some other documents on the day of exam along with admit card namely voter id, roll no, aadhar card or PAN card etc.
• The students appearing for the exam will require to show the admit card for verification and proving the identity and if they are not able to produce the hall ticket, they will not be permitted to give the exam.
• Any difference in the admit card should be brought to the notice of the authorities concerned at the earliest and candidates must get it rectified
• It will not be dispatched to the students by post or any other medium but themselves have to download it.
